Melissa Simon

Class of 2019

Since college, Melissa Simon has spent the last twenty-five years championing the voices of those medically underserved and has developed and led programming and research that has directly impacted local, state, and national level thought and policy regarding inclusion and health equity. She also leads several innovative healthcare workforce development programs including the first of its kind, award-winning, Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), “Career 911: Your Future Job in Medicine and Healthcare.”

During PLS, Simon worked with a diverse group of stakeholders to develop an innovative, mom-personalized, and mom-centered perinatal care model that integrates social factors into prenatal and postpartum care across community health centers in Chicago.
