Hunter Taylor

Class of 2018

Education

After spending his last 10 years coaching men’s basketball, including spending his last four on the Division I level, Hunter Taylor returned to the University of Mississippi as a professor to help lead the graduate teaching program that gave him his first coaching job in Jackson. The Mississippi Teacher Corps (MTC) recruits and trains a small cohort of high-achieving leaders from across the country to teach in critical needs schools throughout the state.

During PLS, Taylor focused on creating a second cohort of teachers for MTC that would place participants exclusively in the city of Jackson. This program aims to not only supply the Jackson Public School system with more quality teachers, but also helps foster a network of young professionals committed to the city and state’s long-term success.
